Biography

Hendrick Cornelissen was a son of Cornelis Maesz (Van Buren). He was born on 30 January 1637 aboard the immigration ship en route to New Netherland. [1]

Hendrick became wealthy as a farmer in the Albany area. He married Elizabeth van Slyck. Their children, as listed by Harriet Peckham, were:[1]

  1. Gerritie, married Jacob Jacobsen Schermerhorn.
  2. Maas, married (1) Ariantji Van Weye (Van Wie), on 17 September 1699, and (2) Magdalena Bogard, in 1711.
  3. Marritji, married Cornelis Jacobsen Schermerhorn on 21 March 1695.
  4. Cornelis, married Henrickji Van Ness on 27 January 1703.
  5. Pieter, married Geetruy Vosburgh on 20 May 1708.
